Transfers

Are there any refunds on transfers if the name fails the process for any reason?

There are no refunds and all sales are final. We do not charge for a transfer unless it is successful. (Note: Be sure your domain name is at least 60 days old, up-to-date, in paid status and unlocked with the current registrar before you initiate your registrar transfer request).

Can't I just wait until the domain name expires and then reregister it as a new domain name?

Most registrars now will keep your domain name for themselves and auction it off. Sometimes they will sell your domain name for much more then the renewal amount. You should never let a domain name expire if it is a good domain name or a heavily trafficked name.

Does the transfer fee include a year of registration or do I have to pay for that separately?

The year of renewal is included in the price of the domain name transfer.

How do I perform a domain name transfer from another registrar to Domainland.com?

Click on "transfers". Fill in all of the fields with the correct information as seen in a Whose lookup. After you do this you need to click on "I agree". Now scroll to the bottom of the web page and click on the "I agree" box stating that you agree to our terms of the transfer (please read the document). To pay for the transfer of your domain(s) and enter the request into our system click on submit and you will be prompted for a credit card.
Make sure that you are listed as the owner of the domain names that you want to transfer by doing a Whois Lookup. If you aren't listed as an owner under the Registrant, Admin, Billing, and or Technical headings you will not be able to transfer your domain name(s). Please contact your current registrar and have them update your Whois information if you're not listed.

I have some domain names registered with NSI or register.com and they are going to expire in a few days. Will I still be able to transfer these names? What about all of the renewal letters I am receiving from these companies?

NSI (Network Solutions International) and register.com may not allow you to transfer a domain name after the expiry date but they have different policies.

NSI – You can transfer a domain name if it is NOT yet expired. If the name is expired you will need to renew it with them for one year and then transfer the domain name.

Register.com - You may not be able to transfer a domain name if it is expired.

OpenSRS – Will never allow transfers of expired domain names. Email them to make sure that your domain names can be transferred.

Other registrars have very different policies. Most all registrars do not allow transfers of expired domain names.

You should contact your current registrar and find out if you need to renew your domain name before transferring it.

I just registered a domain name with another registrar but I like Domainland.com better, can I transfer this domain name?

If a domain name has been registered for less than 60 days it will not transfer. The registry will hold your domain name just to make sure that your payment for the domain name clears. After this 60 days you will be able to transfer your domain name. Also make sure your administrative contact information is current and that your domain name is unlocked before you request a transfer.

My domain name expired, will I be able to transfer it?

Most registrars do not let you transfer an expired domain name. If your domain expires, you will have a grace period to renew the domain name. Your domain must be paid up-to-date and current before you can transfer it. Also make sure your domain name is unlocked before you request a transfer.
